The Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, has been honoured by
Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce (NACC). Announcing the honour,
President of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce, Mazi Sam
Ohuabunwa, described the minister as a revolutionary leader who has
impacted positively on the aviation sector and has restored dignity and
national pride to the Nigeria.
He also described her as an amazon who has taken the nation by storm
through her transformational strides in the aviation sector which has
turned around the fortunes of the sector.
“Over the years, frequent travellers have been embarrassed by the
dilapidated infrastructure in our airports which have impacted
negatively on our standing as the giant of Africa. Within a short time
of coming to office, we are seeing great changes in all our airports.
What looked impossible is suddenly possible to the delight of air
travellers and Nigerians in general,” he said.
Ohabunwa said that Oduah was an outstanding board member of the NACC,
who has distinguished herself in the private sector and now in the
public sector.
She was presented with an award of Excellence with the charge to do more for the benefit of mankind.
Receiving the award on behalf of Minister, the Managing Director of the
Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) Mr. George Uriesi, said
that 11airports are undergoing reconstruction nationwide in the first
phase, out of which the Lagos Terminal has since been inaugurated.
According to him, work will commence on the second phase comprising 11 other airports in the second phase.

He spoke of the Aerotropolis project, another initiative of the
aviation minister, which involves the building of cities and city
infrastructure around airports, describing the enthusiasm with which
both the local and international investors are indicating interest to
invest in the project.
Uriesi, therefore called on the NACC to take advantage of the business opportunities in the Aerotropolis project and enjoy the benefits.
He thanked the group for the honour bestowed on the minister and congratulated the chamber for being the oldest chamber of commerce in Nigeria.

He urged them to continue to build a sustaining and mutually beneficial
business relationship between Nigerians and the United States of
