Following the incessant killings in southern part of Kaduna State, the leaders of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state, and Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), yesterday declared a ceasefire.
The declaration was made barely 24 hours after the peace visit of Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, DIG Michael Zoukumor.
According to a six-page document signed by representatives of different groups from the area and read to journalists by SOKAPU President, Dr. Ephraim Goje, the MACBAN and SOKAPU plan to meet and start the process of reconciliation prior to the arrival of the IG’s team. Continue...

Goje said both parties had co-existed peacefully for a long time before the crises that erupted in the state in 2000.
He noted that instead of finding a solution to the problem, the situation took a dangerous dimension in the form of attacks and reprisals, living in their wake, deaths and destructions.
“It is in the light of these that the two associations concerned have resolved today to condemn unequivocally, this wanton destruction of lives and property of innocent people, and also, declare an immediate ceasefire,” said Goje.
He stated further that the ceasefire was to create an enabling environment for dialogue and the return of enduring peace and unity in the area. Culled From Sun Newspaper
